News Timeline: Russia and Other Former Soviet Republics 2018

 

After the disintegration of the Soviet Union, its former republics became independent states. From now on, these former Soviet Republics will be placed in appropriate regions as follows:

Europe: Belarus, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, the Russian Federation, Ukraine.

Europe: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia.
These three states are located at the crossroads of Eastern Europe and Western Asia. Although sometimes they are considered Asian countries, they are member states of the Council of Europe, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), and the NATO Partnership for Peace (PfP) program.

East Asia: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan.
